록키 요호국립공원 Yoho National Park

  

 

 

 

 

 

우선 요호 국립공원으로 가기 위해서는 캐나다 록키의 최대 도시인 밴프로 가셔야 합니다..

교통이 아주 불편하기 때문에, 밴프에서 투어를 이용하시던지 렌트카를 하셔서 당일치기로 돌아볼 수 있습니다.

요호라는 말은 원주민 언어로 '경이로움'이라는 뜻이라고 합니다..

그리고 록키 산맥이 그렇듯 아주 예전에는 이 곳이 바다였다고 합니다..

이 곳에서 발견된 화석이 그것을 말해주고 있다고 하네요..

 

Established in 1886, Yoho National Park is one of 41 national parks in Canada. Canada’s parks celebrate and help protect the diversity of Canada’s landscapes and the life within. Yoho represents the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains region, and is also a Cree ｅxpression of awe and wonder for this place of rock walls, spectacular waterfalls and soaring peaks. In the shadow of the Great Divide, Yoho holds the secrets of ancient ocean life, the power of ice and water, and unique plant and animal communities that continue to evolve today.

 

 

오하라 호수(Lake O'hara)

이곳은 환경보존을 위해 일반 차량이 접근할 수가 없고, 일정인원만을 받도록 제한되어 있고,

자전거도 허용이 안되기 때문에, 호수까지 가는 셔틀버스를 타거나 걸어서만 갈 수 있습니다..

13km나 되는데 말이죠...허걱..

The Lake O'Hara area is as fragile as it is beautiful. To protect this alpine area and assure a high quality visitor experience, a quota limits the number of people who may use the bus service to the lake. Bicycles are not permitted. There is, however, no limit on the number of people who may hike the 13 km (8 mi) into the lake.

 

 

스파이럴 터널 Spiral Tunnels

엄청 높은 록키의 고산지대를 철도가 지나가기 위해서 8자 모양으로 터널을 뚫어 기차가 돌아올라 갈 수 있도록 해 놓았다고 합니다.

 

두 군데 뷰포인터가 있는데, 위치는 아래와 같습니다.

Lower: 8 km east of Field on the Trans-Canada Highway
Upper: 2 km north of Kicking Horse Campground on the Yoho Valley Road

• shows the entry and exit portals of the rail line on Cathedral Mountain
• the Spiral Tunnels, completed in 1909, reduced the original railway grade of 4.5% the steepest of any railway in North America to a much safer 2.2%

 

 

타카카우 폭포 Takakkaw Falls

 

17 km (25 minutes) from Field via #1 (east) and Yoho Valley Road (north)
It's one of the highest waterfalls in Canada whose name means "magnificent!" in Cree

• several popular hikes start here
• the steep 13 km Yoho Valley Road to the falls has tight switchbacks and is not suitable for vehicles pulling trailers
• this road is open in LATE JUNE - EARLY OCTOBER only, becoming a ski trail in winter (closed to vehicles)

필드에서 만난 꼬마들..열심히 놀고 있길래 사진한장 부탁했더니 선뜻 모델이 되어 주네요..

 

 

9월말이고, 고산지대라 날씨가 꽤 추웠는데, 오후가 되니 햇살이 내리쬐네요..

사실 난 그래도 추웠는데, 아이들은 그 햇살속에서 물장난까지..

 

 

Natural Bridge 자연다리

강물에 의한 침식작용으로 다리처럼 만들어진 바위입니다..

필드에서 서쪽으로 약 3km 떨어져 있습니다.

에메랄드 호수  Emerald Lake

빙하가 녹아 밀려온 빙퇴석이 강물의 흐름을 막아 만들어진 호수라고 합니다..

호수빛깔이.....
