캐나다에서 국제학생증을 만들다..International Student Identity Card

드디어 국제학생증을 만들다..

 

한국에서 대학생이라면 별 무리 없이 돈만 내면 만들어주는 국제학생증이지만

난 나이도 많고, 또 한국에서 직장생활을 하다 왔기 때문에, 나에게 국제학생증은 남의 일이었다.

근데, 멕시코에 갈려고 현지 여행사에 비행기 값 알아보러 갔다가 들었는데,

캐나다에서 3개월이상 풀타임으로 수업을 들었다는 증명만 하면 나이에 상관없이 만들어준다는 것이다..

사실 난 여행때문에 띄엄띄엄 수업들은게 다지만 학교에 부탁해서 총 수업일수를 적어가니

별 문제없이 만들어주었다..

 

아..좋아라..나도 인제 국제학생이다..푸히..

 

사실 태국에 갔을 때, 카오산 거리에 가면 돈만주면 만들어주기도 하지만,

그래도 어디까지나 불법이니깐 안만들었는데, 여기서는 정식으로 만들수 있으니 무지 행복..

 

내가 왜 이렇게 국제학생증에 행복해하냐 하면, 북미에서 배낭여행할려면 이게 꽤 유용하다는 것이다.

여긴 호스텔 도미토리도 하룻밤에 25-30$이다..

게다가 땅덩어리가 넓으니 5-6시간 이동은 기본이고, 그 정도 거리면 평균 요금이 50-60$가 나온다.

근데, 이 국제학생증이 있으면 호스텔은 10-15%, 그레이하운드는 무려 20%나 할인받는다..

지난주 클로나 갈때, 밴쿠버-클로나 왕복이 125$였는데, 국제학생증으로 94$(택스불포함) 냈다..

그 할인율이면 하룻밤 숙박비가 나온다..

이걸 진작 알았으면 지난번 캐나다 동부여행에서도 100$는 넘게 절약했을텐데..무지 아쉽다..

게다가 유네스코 지정유적지는 반값 할인이 된다..

지금 방문을 계획중인 페루의 마추픽추 입장료가 40 us$라고 들었는데, 20$만 내면 된다..

생각만 해도 무지 좋다...

 

참고로, 학생이 아니더라도 만 26세 미만이면 언제든 만들 수 있다..

또한 교직에 종사하면 국제선생증을 만들 수도 있으니 북미여행시는 꼭 지참하자..

캐나다에서 만드는데는 캐나다달러로 16$만 내면 되고,

사진한장만 들고가면그 자리에서 만들어주므로 10분도 채 안걸린다.

 

밴쿠버에서 국제학생증을 취급하는 곳은 'Travel Cuts'라는 여행사를 방문하면 되는데,

Not a Student?

If you are not a full-time student, but aged under 26 or you are a full-time teacher or professor, the International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) or International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) could be for you. The IYTC and ITIC offer similar benefits, services and savings to the ISIC card.

ISIC and UNESCO

How to apply

 

If you are a full-time student, a teacher or are under 26 years old, you are eligible for an international identity card. Your card will give you proof of identity in over 100 countries worldwide.

Full-time Student
If you are enrolled in full-time studies and are at least 12 years old, you are eligible for the International Student Identity Card (ISIC). You can be in secondary school or in post-secondary studies and there is no upper-age limit for the ISIC.

To apply for the ISIC, you need to present proof that you are currently studying full-time at a recognised institution. This could either be your college or university student ID or a signed letter from your school on official stationary. From then on, wherever you are in the world, all you will need to prove that you are a student is your ISIC.

Under 26 Years Old
If you are not a full-time student but are aged under 26 (and over 12 years old), you are eligible for the International Youth Travel Card (IYTC).
Established in 1975, UNESCO endorses the IYTC as the ultimate travel card for anyone under 26 years old. Each year more than 400,000 young travellers around the world use an IYTC to save money.

To apply for the IYTC, all you need is proof of your age, such as a photocopy of your birth certificate, passport or validated picture ID card and a passport sized photograph. Find a IYTC issuing office near you.

Full-time Teacher or Professor
If you are a full-time teacher or professor and would like to use your skills abroad or simply take some time out to explore the world, the International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) is for you.

The ITIC was introduced in 1984 to provide travelling teachers and professors with a recognised document that is accepted around the world as proof of teacher status, and is now the most widely accepted form of teacher identification.

To apply for the ITIC, you need proof that you are a full-time teacher, professor or instructor at a recognised educational establishment. You must be employed for a minimum of 18 hours per week for a minimum of one academic year. Find a ITIC issuing office near you.
