'나의 유령 친구'는 중학교 기숙학교에서 일어나는 주인공 '차뜨리'의 경험을 표현한 성장공포 영화이다.
늘 그렇듯 새로운 곳에 발을 내딛는다는 것은 낯설고 때론 두렵기까지 하다.
아버지에 의해 억지로 엄격한 규율의 기숙학교로 가게 된 차뜨리는 친구들의 괴롭힘과 학교생활의 부적응으로 힘든 나날을 보낸다.
그때 다른 친구들과 달리 자기를 친구들의 따돌림에서 도와준 친구가 있어 그나마 큰 의지가 된다.
점점 그 친구와 많은 시간을 함께 하게 되고 가까워지는데..
한편, 차뜨리의 기숙학교에는 수영장에 빠져 죽은 귀신이야기가 전해 내려오고
기숙사 사감 선생님의 괴이한 행동과 가끔씩 방에서 새어나오는 음악소리..
학교에 중국의 강시영화가 상영되어 단체로 관람을 하게 되는데,
이 죽은 귀신들은 코를 막고 숨을 쉬지 않으면, 사람을 알아볼 수가 없다고 한다..
그래서 학생들은 영화임에도 불구하고 장난삼아 전부다 숨을 멈추는데,
그때 모든 주변 친구들이 갑자기 안보인다는 것을 깨닫게 되는 이가 있다..   For a film about a bunch of boys at a junior high boarding school, this sure is a mature thriller. Okay, what's the story? Fan Chan's Charlie Trairat heads up an excellent young cast of boys (Chaleumpol Tikumpornteerawong - Jack from Fan Chan makes a small, hilarious appearance). Charlie is Chatree, or Ton, as he's sometimes called, and he's been sent away by his strict father to a boy's boarding school. We're not sure why at first, but it's clean that Chatree is pretty upset by his dad's decision to send him away.
The boarding school has a decayed, prison-like, institutational feel to it. Chatree's dorm features one big room filled with hundreds of little-boy sized steel-framed beds. In the morning, they all have to bathe by sloshing water over their bodies, scooped out of tile-lined troughs with little plastic bowls. They wear swimming trunks during this bathing period, and the trunks and towels are hung up on rods. Chatree struggles to find a space on the rods to dry his stuff.
Dinner's promptly at six, and the dorm mother, Ajarn Pranee (Jintara Sugapat), sternly tells him he'd better not be late.
At bedtime, in the dorm room, an eccentric crew of gangly looking boys, who have
been spying Chatree all day and plotting ways to humiliate him, tell Chatree all the ghost stories about the place, including the story of why the school's swimming pool is drained and fenced off, and how that episode made Teacher Pranee "weird" - she sits in her office sometimes with a weepy love song on the record player, skipping over and over while she looks into an open drawer. "What the hell's in that drawer that makes her so sad?" one of the boys asks.
Eventually, all is explained, with the help of a mysterious student who appears out of nowhere to befriend Chatree and offer him advice on how to dry his clothes and other things, including a field trip outside the school to catch a look at the school cook's cute daughter, who is the hottest drum majorette ever in the history of the world.    I copied the summary above. However, this is not the whole story. Go and see it in person. I don't want to make this post a spoiler!! ^^; It was played at the 11th PIFF, so you can find it, Highly recommended..                    Michael says 'something' Haha!
